Test, Develop and Deploy at Speed
The Teledyne IIS Dragonfly® S camera series is designed with modularity and simplicity in mind. It empowers vision system designers by allowing customized camera configurations to precisely meet their needs. It supports essential machine vision features without sacrificing camera reliability. Its compact, cost-effective design accelerates development and simplifies part selection. This makes it ideal for at-scale manufacturing, volume-based applications, and multi-camera systems. Dragonfly S is available with a variety of image sensors from industry leaders such as Sony®, onsemi®, and Teledyne e2v®, ensuring high-quality imaging performance for a wide range of vision applications.
Compact and Lightweight Design
The Dragonfly S is designed for portability with a compact design and available lightweight aluminum case. It is available in board-level to fully-cased models and in a variety of configurations to meet the needs of a wide variety of imaging systems.
Integration Made Easy
Cased models are EMC Class B compliant and reduce the need for additional shielding in EMI-sensitive environments. Small electronics tap directly into the USB power, eliminating extra cabling and simplifying system design for portable applications.
Built-in Reliability
Onboard image buffering ensures every frame is reliably transferred to the host CPU, and universal locking adaptors providing strain relief for the micro-B USB connector.
Modular Options
Dragonfly S offers up to 20 camera configurations for each image sensor. Options are available for:
- Color or Mono Sensor
- Full case, partial case, or bare board
- S-mount or CS-mount
- Back or side USB connector
Evaluation Kit with Multiple Configurations
Select the preferred CS-mount case camera (mono/color, USB back/side connector) and use the Evaluation Kit (EVAL-KIT-DR-U3) to evaluate seven different configuration options to meet your design needs:
- C-mount Full Case
- C-mount Partial Case
- CS-mount Full Case
- CS-mount Partial Case
- S-mount Full Case
- S-mount Partial Case
- Board Level camera without lens mount

Application Use Cases
Medical Devices - Long Product Lifecycle
- For eye care equipment manufacturers producing equipment such as cornea and retina examination equipment, Dragonfly S provides a broad sensor offering including sensors with Near-Infrared performance. Dragonfly S cameras also provide system manufacturers with long camera life cycles for product stability.
Factory Automation - Core Imaging Features
- For factory automation and tooling equipment, Dragonfly S is ideal for alignment and measurement applications. The fully- cased models are designed for easy field servicing and provide reliability in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Portable Devices - Compact and Streamlined System Design
- For compact and portable devices, Dragonfly S excels by allowing power to be drawn directly from the USB bus through its GPIO. This feature powers small LEDs and electronics, simplifying cabling requirements and enhancing system aesthetics.
EMI-Sensitive Environments - Superior EMC Compliance
- For vision-based monitoring systems, Dragonfly S provides EMC Class B compliance. This high level of compliance makes it suitable for direct integration in environments sensitive to EMI radiation without the need for additional shielding (e.g. Hospitals with X-ray and MRI machines, security screening checkpoints, etc.)
"Having worked with multiple Teledyne IIS camera series for over a decade, I had high expectations for the Dragonfly series as an upgrade to one of the existing camera lines we use in our high performance Eye-tracking systems. I'm pleased to say that it not only met but exceeded our expectations. The Dragonfly's flexible configurations made it very straightforward to integrate into our existing workflow. The Dragonfly provides a cost effective solution to our need for high quality machine vision cameras and has become an invaluable asset for our Eye-tracking systems."
