Focus Microwaves is a pioneering engineering company, built around the innovations of its founder Dr. Christos Tsironis who developed his first manual tuner in 1973 and is the inventor of most existing electro-mechanical tuner families. The success of Focus is based on the engineering and manufacturing skills of its highly motivated and experienced team of engineers and technicians, who have been trained and encouraged to develop new technologies. In addition, listening to our customers needs and insights helps us discover and develop new and measurement methods on an ongoing basis, relentlessly pushing the limits of what is possible.
From humble beginnings in 1988, Focus has become the main supplier of advanced Load Pull and Noise Tuner Systems. Our mission is to provide effective, reliable and innovative solutions for non-50 Ohm testing (Noise and Load Pull) of RF microwave transistors, thus enabling our customers to compete in the marketplace with better designs and to advance the understanding and knowledge of the field.

Focus Microwaves offers a range of high-performance pulsed modulators, including 1-channel and 2-channels models, designed for precise signal modulation. These modulators are ideal for RF and microwave applications requiring accurate and reliable pulsed signal generation.
Focus Microwaves’ RAPID DT, built on Keysight’s M5000 PXI modules, delivers fast, broadband load pull and S-parameter testing up to 18 GHz. It supports CW and pulsed signals across wide bandwidths, making it ideal for advanced standards like 4096QAM 802.11be.

Focus Microwaves provides modular microstrip, high-power, and ultra-low-loss coaxial fixtures designed for load pull testing of packaged transistors. Equipped with TRL calibration standards, these fixtures support transistor packages from under 0.1” to 1” wide. Special features include decade-wide Klopfenstein transformers (Fmax:Fmin ~10:1), water- and air-cooling options, and on-substrate bias networks. Microstrip fixtures (PTJ-x*) offer 50Ω lines, λ/4 or taper transformers, harmonic traps, and DC bias networks, while Minimum Loss coaxial Test Fixtures (MLTF-x*) feature low insertion loss (< 0.03 dB at 2 GHz) with connectors including 7mm, N, and 7/16, spanning up to 18 GHz. Both types support water cooling for RF power up to several hundred Watts.
Calibrating tuners for Network Analyzers presents challenges due to high reflections and low losses, affecting S-parameter measurements. At Focus Microwaves, we advocate for TRL (Thru-Reflect-Line) calibration as essential for precise results, unlike the less reliable SOLT and ECal methods. Our comprehensive TRL calibration kits cover 0.3 to 110 GHz and support connector types including 7/16, N, APC-7, 3.5mm, 2.9mm, 2.4mm, 1.9mm, WR-15, and WR-10. Compatible with all commercial network analyzers, these kits ensure reliability and accuracy, crucial for dependable VNA measurements.
