Standex Detect - Intrinsically Safe Relays
Intrinsically safe reed relays and optocouplers are engineered for use in hazardous environments where ignition prevention is critical. Certified to ATEX standards and tested to ensure they do not become ignition sources, even in the presence of short circuits or adjacent component failures—these components are ideal for applications in explosive atmospheres such as mining, chemical processing, refineries, and power stations.
Designed to meet EN50020 safety standards, these relays and optocouplers feature tightly controlled air and creepage paths, high dielectric strength, and low-voltage coil inputs. With a maximum peak voltage of 375 V across input and output, and isolation distances up to 10 mm, they ensure safe operation under overload conditions. The Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) of the plastics used exceeds 175, and internal potting compounds provide additional insulation for long-term reliability.

Magnetic Float NBR or Nitrile Butadiene Rubber floats have excellent resistance to petroleum-derived liquids such as oil and gasoline and can be used in high temperature applications as well. Magnetic Float PA or Polyamide floats are made of nylon, have a very high strength-to-weight ratio making them shock and abrasion resistant, enduring a pressure of 5 bar (73 PSI or 0.5 MPa). Magnetic Float PP (polypropylene) are rugged, highly resistant to many chemical solvents, bases and acids and have a water absorption of only 0.1%. V2A Floats are made of rust-proof stainless steel and are resistant to high temperatures making them ideal for the Food & Beverage industry among others.
- Up to 96 differential channels per full rack mainframe
- Constantly monitor input signals for fault conditions
- Flexible configurations for detecting edges, out-of-bounds conditions and measuring pulse widths
- Inputs can be masked, inverted, and combined to produce interrupts
- Can be used as a time stamp module and as a digital I/O
- Programmable debounce circuitry prevents erroneous readings
- 10 V and 100 V input ranges
- On-board memory stores events with IEEE 1588 timestamps
- Synchronize reading of input states with other scanned analog channels
- Measuring device to detect the twist/lay/pitch length of sheathed cables
- Measurements according to the standards LV212 und LV122
- The twist length of the sample is measured without removing the sheath → this ensures a precise measurement
- Traditional methods manipulate the sample (cable stripping or unwinding of conductors) → a precise measurement is not possible anymore
- Via a PC connection, the measuring results can directly be exported
- Fully automatic: By clicking one button, the measuring sensor automatically moves along the sample
